Bannari Amman Institute of Technology is an Autonomous, Self-financing Engineering College, Approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. It was established in 1996 by the Bannari Amman Group, serving
as one of the citadels of higher education in the Southern part of India. BIT aids to impart knowledge, teamwork, innovation, entrepreneurship, courage, sacrifice and duty which are innards of a meaningful life. BIT has adopted
to the academic reforms that are aimed at inculcating scientific temper, efficiency, integrity, and values among the student community, which transforms them into good citizens and valued employees, entrepreneurs or academicians.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 1996. It offers a four year Under Graduate programme of Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics and two year Post Graduate Programme of Master
of Engineering in Power Electronics & Drives. It also offers PhD/ MS by research programme under faculty of Electrical Engineering.
B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi for five years in Washington accord.
It has a distinguished team of faculty consisting of 14 Doctorates and 27 Post Graduates of which 21 have registered for Ph.D in different areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and have rich industrial/research/teaching
experience. The Department Library has 1200 books in 550 relevant titles and subscribed to foreign journals, Indian journals and magazines.
